Furniture Refinishing

"I could not be happier and more pleased with the service that Alison provided.   Thanks to Alison’s eye for detail and design I am now the lucky and proud owner of a beautiful low-boy dresser.  Alison was so helpful in locating the perfect dresser and in her very capable and talented hands a once yawn-inducing piece of furniture was transformed into a lovely bedroom dresser.  I consistently receive compliments on this piece and could not be happier with my new dresser.  From beginning to the very end, with the delivery,  Alison was a delight to work with and I look forward to collaborating with her in the future."

"She does amazing work.   She is very response and went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied with my bench.  Her finishes have withstood the kid test with my young ones."

Furniture Restoration is all about finding the diamond in the rough, taking worn furniture that has see better days and giving it a fresh new look.   Sometimes taking that back to an original finish or updating for a more modern look.

What all goes into this process?

  1. Sourcing the items (I routinely check thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales, craigslist, etc to find quality items.
  2. Invest in professional tools.  (Good paint is expensive!!!)
  3. Spend hours researching different techniques and products.
  4. Prep it.  This includes fixing any holes, missing veneer, replace missing drawer pulls, screws, etc.  Prepping also includes, scraping, sanding, stripping, priming, etc.
  5. Paint/Stain it (usually 2-3 coats for a single color finish, more for specialty finishes)
  6. Seal it - Poly takes a minimum of 2-3 coats 12 hours of wait time between coats.
  7. Market it - including staging, photos, posting ads.
  8. Deliver it - to home or one of my booths.

I offer the following services (additional fees may apply):

  • Sourcing the perfect piece for your home.
  • Design consultation in your home we can agree on colors in the light the furniture will live in
