Furniture Refinishing
Furniture refinishing is all about finding the diamond in the rough, taking worn furniture that has see better days and giving it a fresh new look. Sometimes taking that back to an original finish or updating for a more modern look.
What all goes into this process?
-
Sourcing the items (I routinely check thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales, craigslist, etc to find quality items.
-
Invest in professional tools. (Good paint is expensive!!!)
-
Spend hours researching different techniques and products.
-
Prep it. This includes fixing any holes, missing veneer, replace missing drawer pulls, screws, etc. Prepping also includes, scraping, sanding, stripping, priming, etc.
-
Paint/Stain it (usually 2-3 coats for a single color finish, more for specialty finishes)
-
Seal it - Poly takes a minimum of 2-3 coats 12 hours of wait time between coats.
-
Market it - including staging, photos, posting ads.
-
Deliver it - to home or one of my booths.

Testimonials
"I could not be happier and more pleased with the service that Alison provided. Thanks to Alison’s eye for detail and design I am now the lucky and proud owner of a beautiful low-boy dresser. Alison was so helpful in locating the perfect dresser and in her very capable and talented hands a once yawn-inducing piece of furniture was transformed into a lovely bedroom dresser. I consistently receive compliments on this piece and could not be happier with my new dresser. From beginning to the very end, with the delivery, Alison was a delight to work with and I look forward to collaborating with her in the future."
